Iron Man - Movie

As you may remember I am a life-long comic book fan (see earlier posts). This sets the stage a bit for my response to the latest superhero movie. There are quite a few movies this summer that started as comic books including The Incredible Hulk, Batman - The Dark Knight, and my personal favorite Hellboy.

I as never a big fan of Iron Man comics. It was not one of the comics that read regularly or collected. I have been aware of the character through his inclusion in the Avengers and more recently through Marvel's Ultimates.

I saw the Iron Man movie last night. I really enjoyed it. I have nothing bad to say about it. I am sure that someone more familiar with the history of the character will have some criticisms but that isn't me.

You do not need to know the comics to enjoy the action and the humor of this film. There are a few jokes and comments that will mean something to the initiated but only a few. If you like action and adventure films you will like this one.

The movie has a great cast and solid writing. The special effects were great. It is definitely a movie to see on a big screen with a good sound system.

If you have any knowledge of the Iron Man the comics, especially the Ultimates storyline, be sure to stay through all of the credits for the extra footage. There are a lot of credits but it is worth the wait.
