At first I thought this was a hoax. I mean what would you think if you read "Scarlett Johansen sings Tom Waits" is the new album by the actress Scarlett Johansen.
It turns out to be true.
Wired Magazine has an online listening party for her new release. I gave it a listen and...
I liked it. Her speaking voice is spiced with notes of Marlene Dietrich and Liz Fraser (Cocteau Twins) as she sings. I have always enjoyed Tom Waits's music but I don't really know his work. I can't compare the two.
