The Historian
by Elizabeth Kostova
I haven't read much of the press on this book. I borrowed it from my friend who enjoyed it and that was good enough for me. I have read the first 100 pages and it is engaging and well written.
One thing I have learned fromthe hype is that the author wrote this book while working on a creative writing MFA at the University of Michigan. I think that's a good reason to give it a try.
It is also a work of historical fiction and could be categorized along with the works by Dan Brown, Iain Pears, and Umberto Eco. I think if those three authors reprented a continuum that this one would be closer to Brown than Eco but no less entertaining or thought provoking.
I will comment more once I have completed it.
