Archaeology in Action

French town builds medieval castle using period construction techniques.

Artisans in the Burgundy hamlet of Guedelon are building a medieval fortress from scratch. Expatica visits the 'open-air laboratory' and meets the workers who are passionate about medieval construction.

Some things never change, however, the above linked article mentions that there are few women on the worksite. The women that are present are working on weaving and gardening. I wonder if this is out of historical accuracy or because no women stone masons or engineers have volunteered?
